The Major League Baseball All-Star Futures Game began in 1999 during All-Star Weekend festivities at Fenway Park. This annual exhibition features some of the biggest and brightest prospects in Minor League Baseball.
A special event ball with a commemorative logo has been made for use in each MLB Futures Game since 2000 in Atlanta. No special commemorative logo baseballs were used at the first iteration in Boston. Avid collectors should be ware that two official Futures balls exist for some Futures games (and Home Run Derbies), one version featuring a sponsor’s logo and one without. It’s likely that only one version was used at each season’s event; perhaps a sponsor wasn’t signed on in time for initial production runs of these gamers.
